Cottis Preschool is a friendly, caring and inclusive setting catering for 2 – 5 year olds in the beautiful village of Hurstpierpoint and surrounding areas.
We are Ofsted registered and therefore follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which ensures we meet certain standards in the provision of care and development for all children at the pre-school.We are also registered with West Sussex County Council for Free Entitlement Government Funding for 2 year olds and 3 – 4 year olds.
Cottis Playgroup was founded in 1971 by Mrs Cottis and Mrs Trott and was run from the Cottis family home.
In 2000 Sam Anthony took over and we are now located in the Guide Hut in Trinity road, Hurstpierpoint.
We pride ourselves in providing top quality child care that evolves to meet the community’s changing needs, yet holds true to our aims: Our aim as a pre-school setting is to provide a safe, secure and stimulating play environment full of laughter, fun, sensitivity and in which children can learn through play; structured and unstructured activities that are well
resourced while also giving children the freedom to develop according to their individual needs. With dedicated, qualified and caring practitioners we will recognise you and your child as individuals with individual needs.
We offer fully inclusive provision of practice supporting the foundation stage within a creative curriculum; Using exploration and discovery as a way of learning, The Creative Curriculum for Preschool enables children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking skills.
We aim to value each unique child, nurture their development as they move towards independence and in so doing gradually build their confidence and emotional preparedness to make the transition to school.
